  1. A prophet is a person thought to speak from 
  2. divine inspiration or one who foretells the 
  3. future. In the Bible, the chief prophets were 
  4. Elijah, Amos, Hosea, and Isaiah. In Islam, 
  5. Muhammad is believed to be the last and 
  6. greatest of a long line of prophets beginning 
  7. with Adam and including Moses and Jesus.
